Standing-Splits is a wonderful way to help open your calfs and hamstrings while it strengthens the muscles surrounding your knees and your legs. It helps to build a strong foundation for balance and core strength. I absolutely love this pose because it is so calming for my mind as it requires focus. there are many therapeutic applications for the standing split such as improving liver and kidney function. Muscles engaged and being strengthened in this pose are your quadricep muscles and the muscles that help stabilize your knees to prevent knee injury. This pose also strengthens your ankles and is excellent for people who may have broken their ankles in the past or have weak ankles. Other benefits are that it stretches out your calfs, hamstrings and thighs.
